MAE EAST (1893-1932)
    LAUGHING AT DANGER

Famous for her bawdy double entendres, Mae East made a name for herself in vaudeville and on the legitimate stage in New York before moving to Hollywood to become a comedian and actress in the motion picture industry. Mae East only made one motion picture, the classic Cum up and See me Sometime, before her career was tragically cut short while on vacation in the Titti Islands.  Mae loved to go to exotic places where clothing was optional.
Below, Mae can be seen encountering two of the locals.  Sensing they might be hostile, she tried to lighten the situation with her trademark comedy. She asked the men, "Are those gourds on your weiners, or are you just glad to see me?"  The men were unamused, mostly because they didn't speak English, but, as fate would have it, they were very glad to see her, and so were their family and friends who feasted on Mae for two days after putting her alive into an earthen oven consisting of red hot stones covered with moistened banana leaves.
